Detail explanation

Meaning: During, throughout

Formation:

Noun + 中
When 中 is attached to some Nouns it’s pronounced as “chuu” while to others it’s pronounced as “juu.” There’s no specific rule so you’ll need to learn by heart.
When attached to some certain Nouns, 中 can be pronounced as both chuu and juu. For example:
世界中 (sekaichuu/seikaijuu): around the world
年中 (nenchuu/nenjuu): whole year, all year round

Example sentences

しばらくまえ、私の留守中になにか起こったようなことを言っていたね。
You hinted a while ago at something which had happened in my absence.
Shibaraku mae, watashi no rusuchuu ni nanika okotta you na koto o itte ita ne.

彼女は一日中ずっと、お忙しかったものですから、あなたにいままでお目にかかれなかったのですわ。
She has been so much engaged all day that she could not ask to see you before.
Kanojo wa ichinichijuu zutto, oisogashikatta mono desu kara, anata ni ima made ome ni kakarenakatta no desu wa.

今朝、授業中のあなたを見てたけど、全神経を集中させていたわ。
I observed you in your class this morning, and saw you were closely attentive.
Kesa, jugyouchuu no anata o miteta kedo, zenshinkei o shuuchuu sasete ita wa.

一日中、立ちづめであったのに、一睡もすることができない。
Though i have been on foot all day, i can not now repose an instant.
Ichinichijuu, tachizume de atta noni, issui mo suru koto ga dekinai.

十五歳のとき、サッカーの練習中にひどい腹痛に襲われた。
When i was fifteen, i felt a sharp abdominal pain during a soccer practice.
Juugosai no toki, sakkaa no renshuuchuu ni hidoi fukutsuu ni osowareta.

Advertisement 家中捜したのに、どこにもタケシはいないし、ケンタの姿も見えない。
I searched all over the house, and could find takeshi nowhere, nor kenta either.
Iechuu sagashita noni, doko ni mo takeshi wa inai shi, kenta no sugata mo mienai.

金もできました。そして引退しました。目下私は世界漫遊中なのですよ。
I am rich. i retired. now i travel about seeing the world.
Kane mo dekimashita. soshite intai shimashita. mokka watashi wa sekai man’yuuchuu na no desu yo.

彼には、食事中に本を読むという、人づき合いの悪い癖がある。
It is his unsocial custom to read at meals.
Kare ni wa, shokujichuu ni hon o yomu to iu, hitozukiai no warui kuse ga aru.

私はここに滞在中、マコトと連絡することができた。
I had been able to communicate with makoto throughout my stay.
Watashi wa koko ni taizaichuu, makoto to renraku suru koto ga dekita.

いや、アヤトが留守中だなどという心配は決してない。
No, there is little fear of finding ayato away from home.
Iya, ayato ga rusuchuu da nado to iu shinpai wa kesshite nai.

わたしは一晩中、両親の夢をみていた。
I dreamed of my parents all the night.
Watashi wa hitobanjuu, ryoushin no yume o mite ita.
