Detail explanation

Meaning: Far from, anything but, let alone, much less

Formation:

Verb-casual, non-past + どころか
いadjective + どころか
なadjective + (な)どころか
Noun + どころか

Example sentences

忙しくて、休みをとるどころか、食事をする時間もない。
I’m so busy that i don’t even have time to eat, let alone taking a day off.
Isogashikute, yasumi o toru dokoro ka, shokuji o suru jikan mo nai.

私は彼に役に立つどころか、迷惑もかけた。
I not only didn’t help him, i also caused him trouble.
Watashi wa kare ni yaku ni tatsu dokoro ka, meiwaku mo kaketa.

きみは離婚も、それどころか別居も望まないんだな?
You do not want a divorce or even a separation?
Kimi wa rikon mo, sore dokoro ka bekkyo mo nozomanain da na.

この愛想のいい、親切な未亡人は、身分のある婦人どころか、わたしと同じ使用人にすぎない。
This affable and kind little widow is no great dame, but an employee like myself.
